On 16th April 2012 the version 7.8 of the Net at Work Mail Gateway has been released to the public. This release enables you to link your mail environment to the De-Mail system. This enables you to send and receive De-Mails in your accustomed mail client like Microsoft Outlook or Lotus Notes. The flexibility to securely exchange mails is improved by the all new PGP encryption feature. Another premiere is the introduction of the Outlook add-in which gives you control of the way mails are being processed by the Net at Work Mail Gateway.
Previous versions of the Net at Work Mail Gateway can be upgraded in-place. The installation- and upgrade notices can be found here.
The following new features, changes and bugfixes are included in version 7.8:
Changes and new features:
De-Mail-Connector
The connection to the De-Mail-System conforms to latest BSI policy. As mentioned before the solution easily integrates in your existing mail environment.
PGP implementation
Now it is possible to create, manage and use PGP Keys for secure mail communication. “RSA” and “DSA with Elgamal” algorithms are available to create your own pair of PGP keys.
PDF Mail
PDF Mail enables you to encrypt and secure a mail message without the use of cryptographic keys. This is achieved by converting the mail into a password protected PDF document. The password can either be set by the sender or automatically be generated by enQsig.
Outlook add-in
Another feature is the new Outlook add-in. Users are able to influence the behaviour of the Gateway. Outlook 2007 or 2010 are required to use the add-in now.
Management console improvements
Clipboard support has been improved. For example you can paste the list of your owned domains in the configuration dialoge or copy the details of a certificate request into the clipboard now. You can also copy the information shown on the summary pages of each role.
Improved Action “Sign and/or encrypt”
You are given the opportunity to choose “no signing” for a more granular rule set now.
Changes in standard RBL-filters
Due to stability issues the “No-more-funn” Realtime Blocklist has been removed.
Behavior on invalid encoded Base64 content
Former versions of the Net at Work Mail Gateway blocked invalid Base64 encoded mail or passed it with nearly no checks run on it. In this release it is possible to auto-correct errors in Base64 encoded content. This enables you to validate these mails more closely now.
Signature inspection report in multiple ways
Now it is possible to add signature inspection report as an X-header to the mail. This information is visualized by the new Outlook add-in. It is also possible to attach the report as a XML file to the mail. Both options must be configured in the configuration file.
Changes in DOI Send Connector
Username and password are both optional now.
